TournaCast Map Information and Sources
The TournaCast map is a collaborative information service designed to help players discover events and chess clubs and reach their official sources directly.
1. Origin of map markers
Markers displayed on the map may refer to:
- events published directly by organizers using VegaResults;
- events submitted by members of the TournaCast community based on information published by the organizer;
- chess clubs or other sports organizations identified through their official website.
Any user may submit an event they are aware of.
Before publication, each submission is reviewed to verify that the event has been publicly announced and that the source provided can reasonably be attributed to the organizer.
Approval of a map marker does not constitute certification, endorsement, affiliation or any guarantee by TournaCast that the event will take place.
2. Accepted sources
For events not managed directly through VegaResults, TournaCast accepts as a source only a publicly accessible web page that can be directly attributed to the event organizer.
The purpose is to allow players to verify the information at its source and to contact the organizer directly.
The following are not considered valid sources:
- social networks or social-media platforms;
- pages accessible only after registration or authentication;
- portals dedicated to publishing tournament results;
- sports federation calendars, databases or portals;
- third-party websites that aggregate or republish event information.
In particular, the presence of an event in a federation calendar or in a third-party database does not, by itself, constitute an accepted source for TournaCast.
The source must instead be the website of the organizer, club, association or organization directly promoting the event, or an official event page published under its control.
Information shown on the map is therefore not obtained by reproducing calendars or databases belonging to FIDE, other federations or external aggregators.
3. Information displayed
For events submitted by the community, TournaCast displays only essential, factual information that has already been made public by the organizer, such as:
- event name;
- dates;
- city;
- venue or address;
- geographical location;
- a link to the organizer's official website or official event page.
TournaCast does not reproduce regulations, articles, photographs, logos or other creative content belonging to the organizer.
Where available, the map marker includes a direct link to the official source used to verify the information.
4. Accuracy of information
Information is obtained from the official source available at the time the event is submitted.
Dates, venue, schedule or other event details may later be changed, or the event may be postponed or cancelled.
Information displayed on the map is therefore provided for informational purposes only.
Before attending an event, users are encouraged to always verify the latest information directly on the organizer's website or in the official event regulations.
5. Community submissions
Because the map is also populated through user submissions, inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information may occasionally be proposed.
TournaCast may correct, suspend or remove a marker when, following a review:
- the event cannot be confirmed by the source provided;
- the source cannot be attributed to the organizer;
- the information is incorrect or no longer current;
- the link is no longer valid;
- the event has been cancelled;
- the submission appears misleading, abusive or unlawful.
Users and organizers are encouraged to report any errors, indicating the event concerned and the reasons for the request.
6. Corrections and removal requests
Organizers may report inaccurate, outdated or incorrectly attributed information at any time.
TournaCast will review the report and, where necessary, correct or remove the information.
A simple request not to display an event that has been publicly announced on the organizer's own website does not automatically result in its removal from the map.
Removal requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the published information, the source used and any rights or interests involved.
TournaCast may nevertheless decide to remove an event whenever it considers it appropriate to do so.
